World Premiere

“Byrd: The Life and Tragic Death of James Byrd Jr.”

A Brown-Jason documentary film

Thursday, June 7th, 7:30 pm

Houston Community College-Northwest**

Town & Country Performing Arts Center
1010 W. Sam Houston Pkwy N.
Houston, TX 77043

Thursday, June 7, 2007 will mark the 9th anniversary of the day when James Byrd, Jr. - an African-American man - was brutally chained and dragged to death by three white supremacists in Jasper, Texas.

The film’s producers Eric Brown and Ricky Jason believe that the story of James Byrd, Jr. should be told to the entire world in a way that exposes the type of man Byrd really was as opposed to how he was portrayed by the mainstream news media.

The documentary includes personal interviews with the children of James Byrd, Jr. as well as his friends, classmates and pastors in Jasper, Texas. Legendary civil rights activist Dick Gregory and Martin Luther King III appear in the film while Susan Sarandon, Sister Helen Prejean and college students from around the world offer commentary on his legacy.

Producers Brown and Jason hope that that everyone will be inspired by this documentary which has been their labor of love for 9 years.

Media and press are welcome at this World Premiere!
