I truly felt in the presence of a man that deserved respect, yet I was surprised how much respect he showed back to me. We shook hands, and I told him he was my favorite rapper. i work for one of the ymca's in houston, and had the honor to meet mr. hawkins who was at one of his son's basketball practices. Hawk was so down to earth, really approachable, and just a nice guy. This is E-Red out of Austin Texas, and I just want to give my condolences to the Hawkins Family and much love to all of the friends of Mr. John Hawkins AKA H.A.W.K---- He was my favorite of all members of The SUC Fam, and all Rappers period, and it hurt my heart to learn that he will just be a memory from now on. It hurt when we lost FatPat, and it hurt a little more when we lost The Legend DJ Screw, but this loss is personal for me. From the days of DEA, I have been the #1 fan of the man. I can't be upset about the situation, cause when God calls, it's time to go, but I am hurt deeply cause of this crime and hate-filled world. The shooter knows who he is, and he knows his time is coming, so The Lord will deal with him, if his conscience doesn't do it first. His style can NEVER be duplicated, and he is a legend just like FatPat and DJ Screw. All DEA and H.A.W.K CD's as well as mixtapes with his voice on them are priceless to me, and I will truly miss waiting to hear what's next from The H.A.W.K. I remember the last time he was here in Austin, I did not make it to the show, and I was upset, but I knew there would be a next time cause we show them love when they r here and love like that is reciprocated.... but now all I have is my music and a few pictures that I was lucky to take with a few members of The Fam... I did not personally know H.A.W.K, but I felt like if I was bold enough I could have made an impression and been cool with him, it was all a dream, but I do declare my self one of the biggest fans he had... and I will forever be Under H.A.W.K's Wings.
